Make Your Holidays Healthy With Coconut Snowmen Cookies For many folks, baking holiday goodies is an element of the seasonal ritual that were performing since early childhood. We roll out sugary dough on the well-floured surface, gently press out well known holiday shapes with shiny cookies cutters, and watch them turn a golden brown within the oven. Each tasty little bit of baked perfection will be topped with vibrant colored icing. It's a holiday tradition which has been passed down from down the family. But involving the baked goodies along with the extra caloric main courses and side dishes, the season of giving presents us with an overwhelming quantity of sugar and fat-two "gifts" we'd rather not receive. Choosing smarter snack choices for our kids is very important, yet we have to take care of the lighthearted holiday spirit that we all hold so dear. Cut documented on sugar and overload on fun together with your children this season by looking into making coconut snowmen together. This recipe's basic and healthy ingredients ensure you're feeding your young ones exactly the best, and easy preparation means your children can participate in the entire process. Coconut Snowmen Cookies Makes about eight 2-inch Snowmen heads or three full-bodied snowmen 1 A� c. shredded coconut (reserve 1 c. for rolling the balls) 1 A� c. raw cashews (reserve A� c. for snowmen's noses) 1 c. pitted dates 2 T. water 1 tsp. vanilla A� c. chocolate chips Kids: Measure the ingredients and dump them in to a blender.  Adults: Process the components before consistency is doughy with visible chunks from the cashews.  Adults: Remove dough from food processor and place in fresh bowl.  Kids: Dive in with clean hands and initiate forming 2-inch balls.  Kids: Roll the balls inside reserved shredded coconut to create the snowman's "snow" make on waxed paper.  Kids: Decorate each snowman by having chocolate chips for eyes and nut pieces for a nose (see note).  Adults: The cookies are entirely raw, so please cover and store within the refrigerator or freezer. Note: Get creative once you decorate the snowmen, and feel free to use other ingredients such as shredded carrots for that nose (rather than nuts) and blackberries or prunes for hats. Better yet, develop some all on your own. You may also produce a typical three-tiered snowman, if you choose. However, I would recommend employing a toothpick to stop the snowmen from toppling over.
