Greenwood, 22, headed to LaLiga last month after bosses ruled he could not continue his career at Old Trafford following an investigation into his off-field behaviour.
The former England international was set to be welcomed back into the fold at United before SunSport exclusively reported the club had made a U-turn following a backlash from fans.
He was arrested in January last year following charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.
However, all charges were dropped in February by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Italian Euro winner, 31, joined the Gunners from Chelsea at the start of the year.

But Jorginho has found his minutes limited this season following the £105million arrival of Declan Rice.
Five of the playmaker’s six appearances have come from the bench.
And ESPN claims Jorginho could now be presented with an escape route to Barcelona in January.

But according to Paul himself, he has set out to rematch Fury next year after the pair exchanged unlikely direct messages online.
He said on NELK Boys podcast: "We're in talks. We've DMd back and forth like, 'Let's do the rematch in 2024.' So he's down."
